My Friday Plan ...

Cheese, wine, grapes, sweater lounging ... you know, the usual.

Grey's!

People actually say that ... "I'm watching GREY'S!" I guess you're only cool if you're on a first name basis with the worst show ever. Honestly, what is it with people wanting to watch doctors be slutty? Brandon thanks me on a daily basis for being the anti-everythingthatsucks woman that I am. I thank him for being the opposite of every Affliction-clad, gelled hair douche bag I see every day.
So, lets talk about how awful this is ...

This is burning my eyeballs out of my head ... I mean, I don't like her, I hate everything she has been in except for Wish Upon A Star, so I'm not going to be nice. But even if I loved and adored her and had big giant pictures of her made into art on canvas like you can do at Michaels for a ridiculous price, I would not be pleased with this horrid outfit. She looks like an extra on Deep Space Nine or president of Save the Elephants and/or Possums Foundation. Lets give her some slack on the jacket, it is a great cut. The dress [or shirt/skirt combo] probably could stand on its own with the right shoes or accessories, but wearing them together is just ridiculous. So, once she gets that on [and all the mirrors in her house break and she has no friends that will tell her to stop the insanity] she thinks ... you know, there really just isn't enough grey touching my body right now, I'm gonna go see if Goodwill is still open ... enter, the knee-high, grey suede crushed-velvet-esque boots WITH TIGHTS, no less. And not black tights or nude color support hose ... MORE GREY!

By this time, she is just exHAUSTED and thinks ... screw it, I'm just gonna wear my hair up wet and forget the make up. As long as I do the crossed-leg-hands-on-the-hip pose, everything will be fine! Not so. She blew it.

Ugh ...

Today sucks ...

This helps!

The Cage-meister!

Yay! I met Nicholas Cage!

I'm just now getting over this. Haha. I was at an event at the RFC, featuring Nic Cage and Joel Schumacher on Saturday night, courtesy of my amazing husband who bought me a ticket! When I first arrived, everyone was seated and he entered through the door down by the theaters screen. I was pretty bummed because he seemed SO far away and I couldn't get a good picture. Later on, I left the theater to go to get a glass of wine and go to the restroom and when I came out ... there he was! No one else was around. No bodyguards or anything. He just so happened to be walking out of the men's room at the same time. Now, what happened next is quite a blur, but I'm positive that it involves me saying "no shit!" when he said "well, thanks so much for watching my films." I also told him I love, Wild At Heart, CON AIR and FACE/OFF and that I watch National Treasure once a week.  Oh man, I am such a nerd! But anyway, it was great and he was wonderful and sweet to chat with such a nerdy fan alone in a creepy hallway. I'm so glad I got a picture! It didn't even cross my mind until someone turned the corner and offered. Thank you, random stranger!

Sweet Buster Brown

Our sweet family pup, Buster died today. He will be missed so much by all of us, especially my Dad with whom he had a special kinship. Buster was the sweetest and happiest dog I've ever known. He was a "stray," but that really only means he was looking for a home that needed and wanted him and that home was lucky enough to be ours!

I'll never forget my first impression of Buster. I kept thinking, "aww, he doesn't know he looks like that ..." After a few years, I think that his unique looks and precious demeanor made him the best dog ever in the opinion of everyone he met. We really got the feeling that he appreciated us taking him in and our family spent the rest of his life making sure he knew that we appreciated him just as much.

I know my Mom, Dad and brothers are taking this the hardest, since they were lucky enough to spend pretty much every day with him after I moved away. I hope they can stay strong and know that even though he is gone, he died a very happy dog and I bet his spirit will be felt there for a long time to come!

I will miss being greeted like this every time I visit home!

I'm turning into Joey Tribbiani ...

Sammies! Sandwiches, that is ... are the best way to get a warm meal quickly. I really love these cute mini bagels I got, pre-sliced at Target. So today in between class and work I decided to whip up some little mini- bagel club sammies.

One side has mustard and mozz, the other ... mayo, olive oil and sharp cheddar. The turkey is Boars Head mesquite. Pretty good, but they don't have additives, so it can seem a little dry if you don't add the olive oil, mayo, etc.  I also added black pepper and Tony's and then popped them in at 400 for a quick melt while the bacon cooked.

Oh, bacon ... how I love thee. Cut in half as usual. I use Wrights peppered bacon and add some garlic to the pan while its hot.

Criss cross!

Done-zo! That took about 20 minutes total. They're so cute and tiny, but really filling!

I really wish I had a salad! But our fridge is pretty bare. I went with cheddar and sour cream ships and some delicious sweet tea.

Pumpkin Crunch

Oh dear lord ... this stuff is amazing! As usual, just thought I'd share. Great for curling up with a scary movie and some spiced tea! YUM! You can find it and other stuff we shouldn't be eating  ... here or at World Market here in Shreveport, although ... there may not be anymore there!

Christie ♥'s Marilyn

Last night was the big night! Christie's lingerie shower went off without a hitch. We rented out a screening room at the Robinson Film Center and set up the party so we could have cocktails, watch a Marilyn Monroe movie and then Christie could open her presents. It really was cute and I think everyone had fun!

Here are a few highlights ...

The invitations.

Miss Monroe on the big screen!

Bestie Christie looking like the cutest cute ever.

Bridesmaids Amber & Cori chattin' it up.

She got some fun stuff! [well, Jonathan did ...]

That was some seriously sweet punch. [I stuck to Guinness, naturally.]

Delicious red velvet cake. [Good thinking, Sarah!]

Party favors! Who doesn't love candy? I had fun stuffing these the night before.
I have to admit to eating a lot of candy in the process.

I'm pretty mad at myself for not getting pictures of the [delicious] food. Thanks to the RFC for providing us with everything we needed for a great [and very pink] party. Everyone had a good time and Christie got to load up on goodies for the honeymoon! I cannot believe her wedding is just around the corner! Time to starve myself to get in that pink dress like any good matron of honor....

New Zombees

"I was working in the lab, late one night ..." [honestly, if you don't get that one, we might not be friends."

There are quite a few newbies on the Etsy site right now. One that smells like babies. One for Marie Antoinette. One thats reminds me of blood. One that is the best autumnal scent ever created and the return of Cherries a Minuit [black cherry] and Zombee Meadow [fresh cut grass]. Etsy crashed because of how awesome my page is. Well, it did go offline for about a half hour, lets pretend it was an "awesome overload" due to my Zombees bursting on the scene. Deal?

"Let Them Eat Cake!"

Aaaaaah, Eek Out!

Oh, they have some great things going up on the shelves right now. Ah! I eeked so hard in Target today.

Too cute. Also, yummy.

Did you get the title? "Aaaah, Freak Out!" Le Freak! I hope that stays in your brain all day. ♥

Yes, please.

I am beyond in love with this dress. It is one of those things that makes me think "no one would wear this ... except me ... every damn day if I could." I'm hoping it is t-shirt material. It is definitely sheer and it looks like the most comfortable version of a [notoriously uncomfortable] mermaid cut dress ever conceived. I am also hoping that it isn't a mock-neck. I have an aversion to said neck cut. Almost as strong as my aversion to paisley, but I could deal with it in this case. I love every bit! All the way down to the 90's fabric-down-past-the-thumb-bone-so-you-look-like-you-have-sloth-hands sleeve. So very Jennifer Love Hewitt in Party of Five. [LOVE!]

I've been trying to hold myself back from wearing turtlenecks, but its September for crying out loud ... it's time!! I have always said, "I dress for the season, not the weather. If it is time to wear pants and close-toed shoes, that's just what I'm going to do." I sweat like a 300lb man either way, so why not?!

As soon as I get my camera back, I'm going to do a shoe post. I have long been wanting to show off my collection, but never have the time. I still don't have the time, but I don't think I can wait any longer.

Off to watch Bell, Book & Candle and make some ... candles. Hah.

♥Queenie

P.S. I think that "what do you want from PieWorks?" might be the best words a husband can say to his wife when she gets home short of "here is some money, go buy shoes." He coupled it with ... "I can get some wine while I'm out, too." Good lord, I love him.

P.P.S. That is Gavin Rossdale's love child! I totally forgot about her. Oddly enough, I can definitely see my girl Gwen wearing that dress. ooooOOOOoooo

Removes Dead Skin

I don't have to tell any of you about my obsession with Zombie stuff ... I mean, Zombee Candle? But seriously ... look at this amazing stuff I got from The Bubbling Cauldron on Etsy ...

Amazing!  It smells like heaven dipped in rainbows and it really does work as a good scrub for unwanted zombie skin. Nothing really ever helps my blackfoot condition [I've decided my Native American name is either "Walks With No Shoes" or "Eats Till Shamed"] but it does a pretty damn good job, seeing as how it isn't really meant for feet.

I also got some "Witch Cream" which is code for magical lotion. So luxurious! So Autumnal. I cannot wait for the big, orange Harvest Moon!!♥

If you haven't already made plans to be here for Halloween ... you might want to go ahead and take care of that. I am officially booked in a fantastic and possibly haunted [definitely historic] venue and arranging my menu for the night! There will also be a live band and a book signing by local authors of Historic Haunts of Shreveport. It will be a night to remember! Email me if you'd like to get an invitation in the mail! zombeecandle@gmail.com

Off to make some Spiced Tea and read more of Fat Vampire. If you are a reader, you should look into some of the Young Adult fiction they have out today. So hilarious! And I'm not just saying that because I am employed by our local library. Well, maybe I am ...

UPDATE: I've changed my mind ... I'm going to watch Mermaids instead. Cher, Christina Ricci and Winona Ryder ... plus a Motown soundtrack? Yes, please. Great fall movie. ♥ G'night!

Ahh! Autumn!

Okay, it isn't officially Autumn yet, but I am in full swing here at the Haus. I have a few random pictures I would like to post. I haven't been cooking anything since I've been home from Cape Fear. I think once school started, I just had to hang up my chef's hat and make do with Hot Pockets for awhile. Never fear, I plan to make a big ass  soup or chili the day it starts cooling off and my practice with baked goods will pick up here shortly as well.

The count-down to Hawaii has officially begun. ONE MONTH from today, Brandon and I will be flying to Maui to witness our friends' marriage on the beach. It will be romantic overload followed by 5 days of snorkeling, museum hunting and sun bathing, to be sure. Having been on every size plane imaginable, thanks to my weekend caper with the girls, I am not fearing my plane ride to Hawaii. I think I will more than likely stay up the night before like a kid on Christmas Eve and then sleep the whole time. Dramamine is so awesome.

Brandon got some luggage for us today! MEGA SALE! JCPenney had a 5-piece luggage set for $49. Insane! Of course ... it is teal. But, a little Lisa Frank never hurt anyone. Plus it's Hawaii, so we will blend right in with the local color. We plan to rent a  Jeep Wrangler while we are there so we can take the Hana Highway and soak Maui up in all its glory.

I wanted to put some new candles up on Etsy, but I don't have my camera! I left it in a friend's camera bag on the trip to NC and just blanked when it was time to unload all of my stuff when we got home. I was spaced out for a couple of days after that trip, to be honest. I don't travel well and I can admit that.

We've had a great Labor Day weekend ... which will culminate with Real Pickle burgers and homework tonight after I get done cleaning and doing 8,498 loads of laundry.

Things I learned this weekend ...

We own 4 versions of Monopoly, Nightmare Before Christmas is my favourite.

I have hilarious/awesome friends. I ♥ Zombie gifts!! Thank you Adam!!

Glitter nail polish is amazing; 3 coats deep, that is.

Heather is right; hat shopping is nearly as much fun as shoe shopping.

I am good at RISK, but ...

even if I get the two most important pieces in Monopoly, I lose ... every time.

My husband is great at fixing things!

I miss my orange hair ...
